P4: Diffusion and Trapping in Confined Liquid Films and at Interfaces
The project deals with diffusion processes in confined layers of liquids and liquid crystal films. Optical single molecule techniques have been combined with extensive numerical simulations and theoretical modeling. Combinations of particle tracking and fluorescence correlation experiments revealed both static and dynamic heterogeneities caused by interface properties and film thickness. The combination of various theoretical and experimental approaches paved the way for a ride through a complex landscape of confined motion.
