Summary

Cover of this title
Possum Magic
Julie Vivas and Mem Fox

The illustrations in this book not only tell the story of a heartwarming family adventure but also show the cultural richness of Australia. The little possum Hush was made invisible by his Grandma Poss, who possesses magic, to protect him from the Australian bush dangers. When Hush wants to be able to see himself again, they travel across Australia to reverse the spell. On the way, they encounter many different animals and types of food local to Australia.

Full of large illustrations, this book can easily be read aloud in front of the class. One possibility for interdisciplinary teaching would be to discuss the book in context with the geography and culture of Australia (Geography class).
