Collecting personal data

We collect as little user data as possible to provide this website. This means we collect only basic usage statistics without any data unique to the individual if you simply visit our web page. We run a local install of WordPress configured to neither send data through third-party servers nor save any cookies on your device – with the exception of users who log in to edit content, in which case user account information is saved on your computer in the form of a ‘cookie’ and log-in data is saved to the database on our server.

The server set up to host this website is provided by Leipzig University. They log client data such as your browser, screen size, IP address and access dates to prevent orchestrated attacks on their infrastructure in accordance with their own privacy policy.

Third-party content

If we provide links to third-party services such as Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, these are configured to only collect data after you have clicked on the respective link and thus actively express your consent.

When users look at individual entries in our database, cover images may be loaded from two sources: the Verzeichnis lieferbarer Bücher (VLB) and Open Library (Internet Archive). Neither of these services uses the fact that an image was accessed to track users or their browsing behaviour.

Data sharing and interception

We do not pass on any data to third parties without your explicit approval. While we treat your data as safely as possible, all data transfer on the web may be intercepted by, for example, telecom service providers in ways that are outside our control.

Note that it is prohibited to use email addresses provided on this site for the purpose of unsolicited advertising or information, i.e. spam.

Policy changes

We may change this privacy policy in the future without further notice in order to improve, change or close this web service.
