Cal
Summary
Cal
A story about the Troubles in Ireland and an unemployed teenager caught in a bloody conflict. Cal is a member of the Catholic minority in Northern Ireland. Like his peers, he goes to school but unlike his peers, he occasionally works as a driver for the Irish Republican Army IRA. This way he becomes complicit in the murder of a local farmer. His life seems to change when he falls in love with a woman named Marcella but she, too, is connected to the Troubles in an unforeseeable way.
As the novel touches upon ethical, religious, historical and political topics an interdisciplinary teaching project with Ethics, History, Politics, Religion and Social Science is possible.
