Hana Formánková

Hana Formánková is a research fellow in the Research Unit: The German Political System/Politics in Europe (Prof. Dr. Astrid Lorenz) at Leipzig University. She studied European Studies and International Relations at the Masaryk University in Brno and subsequently completed training at the Czech Diplomatic Academy, after which she joined the Czech Foreign Service. In the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs she worked in the Central Europe Department. As a diplomat, she was transferred to Berlin from 2015 to 2016, during which time she worked in the European Department of the German Foreign Office. After leaving the Czech Foreign Service, Hana Formánková has been involved in research and teaching at the Department of the Political System of Germany/Politics in Europe (Prof. Dr. Astrid Lorenz) as a research assistant since 2017. Since 2013 she has been a member of the Research Academy Leipzig in the Graduate School “Global and Area Studies” and a doctoral candidate at the Institute of Political Science under Prof. Dr. Astrid Lorenz. In her dissertation project, Hana Formánková focuses on the implementation of regional policy in transnational spaces and on the steering capacity of institutions under conditions of EU integration. The German-Czech neighbourhood policy is used as a case study.
