Steffi Marung is project manager at the SFB 1199 “Spatialisation processes under conditions of globalisation”. At the Graduate School Global and Area Studies she supervises doctoral students on topics such as the history of European integration, current processes of Europeanisation and European foreign relations. She completed her dissertation at the GWZO on the change of the EU border regime in the course of the EU’s eastward expansion. She is Principal Investigator in the international research project “Socialism Goes Global” on the interconnections of Soviet and East-Central European societies with those of the Global South, focusing on socialist ideas and projects of rural development in the region.
