The Global and European Studies Institute (GESI) is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy of the University of Leipzig and devoted to graduate teaching and research in the field of Globalization and Europeanisation. It works at the cross-roads of several disciplines and aims at an analytical interpretation of the global condition. We do so by studying its emergence over and by examining the reciprocity of increasing flows of people, goods, capital, and ideas transcending traditional borders of political, economic and cultural units on the one hand and to changing attempts of gaining control over these flows on the other hand.

Addis Ababa University – IPSS

The Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) at Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia is a leading research institute on Peace and Security in Africa with the aim to combine academic research, training and policy dialogue. Since 2010 the IPSS cooperates with the African Union within the African Union initiated Africa Peace and Security Programme (APSP) aimed at augmenting African capacities in the field of peace and security.  Since 2012 the IPSS administers the annual Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa, a forum for debate between various stakeholders, such as academics, policymakers, non-state actors and heads of states.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

The DAAD is the largest German funding organization that facilitates international exchange of students and researchers. Its main responsibilities include furthering internationalization of higher education institutions in Germany, awarding scholarships and promoting German cultural and language studies abroad.
