We began discussing the basics of De Groote's syntax and semantics, and presented the very high level idea. Next time we begin digging in!

Reading
De Groote (2006) Towards a Montagovian account of dynamics

<2019-01-07 Mon>

No class (because I was sick)

<2018-12-17 Mon>

We concluded our discussion of DRT

<2018-12-10 Mon>

More DRT

<2018-11-26 Mon>

We began discussing Kamp's paper.

<2018-11-19 Mon>

No class (Semantics course meets instead)

<2018-11-12 Mon>

We finished our discussion of Heim's paper. Next time we will start with the other god-father of dynamic semantics, Kamp (1981).

For next time, please read sections 1 and 2.

<2018-11-05 Mon>

We continued discussing Heim's paper; we dug into the formal definition of satisfaction of a file, and of the satisfaction conditions of an updated file, with an eye on nullary predicates. Next time we will discuss universal quantification and negation.

<2018-10-29 Mon>

No class (because of Reformationstag, the Semantik seminar takes place here instead)

<2018-10-22 Mon>

We discussed the first 6 sections of Heim's paper.

For next time, please finish the Heim paper!

<2018-10-15 Mon>

We will read papers by Philippe De Groote (on dynamic semantics) and by Bob Levine (on hybrid type logical grammar), in that order.

We will prepare for the De Groote work by reading one of the classic articles about dynamic semantics, Heim (1983).

For next time, please read up to section 7 on page 236!

For extra fun, check out some work by Jules Hedges, in particular his thoughts on compositionality.
