Visiting

Our centre is located at several sites south of Leipzig’s city centre.
The management is based in the Centre for Biotechnology and Biomedicine in BIO CITY LEIPZIG.

Travelling by public transport or by car:

  • By tram and bus
    From the city centre, take tram 16 (towards Lößnig) or tram 2 (towards Meusdorf). Alight at Deutsche Nationalbibliothek. BIO CITY LEIPZIG is a five-minute walk away.
    Bus 74 connects BIO CITY LEIPZIG with the districts of Lindenau and Holzhausen.
  • By S-Bahn train
    Alight at Leipzig MDR, which is served by all S-Bahn lines. BIO CITY LEIPZIG is a ten-minute walk away.
    • S1 – Towards Wurzen
    • S2 – Towards Markkleeberg
    • S3 – Towards Stötteritz
    • S4 – Towards Geithain
    • S5 – Towards Zwickau
  • By train
    Leipzig is easy to reach by train from most European cities. From Leipzig Central Station, take tram 16 towards Lößnig and alight at Deutsche Nationalbibliothek. BIO CITY LEIPZIG is a five-minute walk away.
  • By aeroplane
    Leipzig/Halle Airport is a 30-minute drive from the city centre. A shuttle bus runs every half an hour between the airport and Leipzig Central Station.
    The S-Bahn lines S5 (towards Altenburg) and S5X (towards Zwickau) also run every half an hour to the stop Leipzig MDR. BIO CITY LEIPZIG is a ten-minute walk from this stop.

Travelling by car

Leipzig can be reached by car via the A9 (Berlin – Nuremberg), A 14 (Halle – Dresden) or A 38 (Göttingen – Leipzig) highways.

Parking
Roadside parking is available at Deutscher Platz. Coming from Semmelweisstraße, there is also a large free car park on the left-hand side before Deutscher Platz.
