Sustainable deployment of renewable energies with multiple environmental impacts – Policy strategies to address environmental trade-offs of the German energy transition

The deployment of renewable energies forms the basis for the German energy transition and makes an important contribution to mitigating climate change and other environmental issues. However, the use of renewable energies also produces negative impacts on humans and nature.

In the research group MultiplEE, we therefore examine how the regulatory framework in Germany and Europe can be designed to promote the transformation of the electricity system sustainably, taking into account the multiple environmental effects of renewables.
