The Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO) Japan donates approximately 4500 Japanese video games of the last 10 years to Leipzig University. The games were delivered to the Institute of East Asian Studies on June 11. It will be processed collaboratively by jGames and Leipzig University Library. With this generous donation, jGames is now one step closer to its aim of making Japanese video games available to research and teaching. Processing this collection is also an opportunity to help preserving an important part of digital culture, which is already becoming less accessible today, given the speed of technological development. The inimitable collection also offers a deep insight into Japanese video game culture and its recent developments. More information on the processing of the donation will follow soon on our 1box/week blog.

The initiative expresses its deepest gratitude to CERO for their generous support.
