Exploration of roughness by means of the Mismatch Negativity paradigm

A mismatch negativity study was set up to find the neural correlates of roughness perception. The results suggest that when the sounds are not attended to, roughness is reflected by the mismatch positivity as evidenced at the mastoid electrodes.
