The video series 100 World Histories in 100 Words is a project by the Network of World and Global History Organizations (NOGWHISTO), the Leipzig Research Centre Global Dynamics (ReCentGlobe), and Sogang University.

The Network of World and Global History Organizations (NOGWHISTO) connects scholarly organizations devoted to the study of the global dimensions of the past, be it by researching humanity’s tradition at large or by reconstructing the entanglement of various scales of human action.

The Leipzig Research Centre Global Dynamics is dedicated to examining globalization projects in the past and present in a broad interdisciplinary cooperation. More than 200 employees work at the centre that is part of Leipzig University.

Sogang University’s Critical Global Studies Institute (CGSI) has the mission of presenting through the four “trans” words the theoretical and academic vision articulating “globalization from below”.

  1. Transnational – go beyond national boundaries to develop global ethics and epistemology.
  2. Transregional – deconstruct both Orientalism and Occidentalism and cultivate democratization of scholarship.
  3. Transdisciplinary – establish theoretical/practical groundwork for research that aims to cross the borders of knowledge and ideas and yet move beyond interdisciplinary modes of inquiry.
  4. Transinstitutional – establish networks that surpass the boundaries of educational and research institutions to create and expand transcultural and transdisciplinary collaborations.
